Our client is leading PE Backed retail group of business with a combined turnover of more than £1.8 billion.


As part of the companies continued expansion, FRS have been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of a Qualified Accountant to join the business in a Operational Finance Leadership capacity.


Working closely with the Head of Treasury & Tax, The Cash Accountant Manager will be primarily responsible for managing the cash team in the delivery of key financial activities including daily cash postings, corporate bank and cash in transit reconciliations.


  • The individual will need a good understanding of the cash function in a large business, with high volume transactions, and managing multicurrency accounts.
  • Extensive experience of team management will be needed in order to develop, lead and support the team in delivery of their tasks.
  • They need to be a problem solver who can work on their own initiative, and implement solutions, in a changing environment.
  • Preferably someone who is qualified who has experience with dealing with cash but also who understands the interfaces with the rest of the business.
  • Experience of dealing with external stakeholders such as banks, cash collection providers, and profit protection would be preferred.

Key interfaces and relationships:


Success in the role will be dependent on strong leadership skills and ability to drive and lead the changes needed in the cash team.

Good working relationships with other business functions will be fundamental to deliver the tasks on time. Adapting to change and making necessary changes to roles will be key.


Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities/Actions:

  • Lead and manage a team of 5 people.
  • Implement the necessary changes to the cash team to ensure the efficient delivery of tasks.
  • Oversee the preparation of timely bank reconciliations.
  • Lead investigations of unreconciled cash of both corporate and cash in transit bank accounts; liaising with relevant business functions, accounts payable and profit protection.
  • Lead the changes needed for cash reporting for key stakeholders such as Profit protection
  • Authorise internal transfers between corporate and cash in transit bank accounts.
  • Oversee the management of monies in safe, ensuring cheques received are banked in a timely manner.
  • Provide ad hoc assistance and cover within the UK cash team as and when this is needed.
  • Assist Financial accounts with half and year end Audits.

Need to know:

  • CIMA/ ACCA/ ACA qualified, or Qualified with experience working in a large business function, in high volume and multicurrency transactions.
  • Extensive experience of team management.

  • Ability to work across other business functions.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Excel. Ideally (but not essential) knowledge of Oracle Fusion.

Know How:

  • Proven track record of attention to detail and ability to work to strict deadlines and prioritise tasks accordingly
  • Flexible and adaptable to a fastpaced environment, comfortable with a relatively unstructured working environment and able to use own initiative
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels
  • Familiarity with retail or multisite environment would be helpful.

This position is being offered on a Temporary or FTC basis for a period of at least 3-6 months and can also lead to a permanent position for those seeking a longer-term opportunity.


A day rate of around £300-£400 can be offered coupled with excellent benefits and sizable bonuses on conversion to permanent.
