    What will you be doing?

    As a Lead Power Electronics Engineer, you will join our dynamic team focused on driveline electrification in Coventry to support our activities within the Automotive sector. As the Lead Power Electronic Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge power electronic systems for electric drivelines. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of electric and hybrid vehicle technology.

    Your main responsibilities will be to:

    • Lead a team of power electronic engineers in the design, simulation, development, and testing of power electronic systems for electric drivelines.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, control engineers, and system architects to ensure seamless integration of power electronics within the drivetrain system.
    • Drive innovation in power electronics design, topology selection, and thermal management to maximize efficiency, power density, and reliability.
    • Develop detailed technical specifications, design guidelines, and standards for power electronic components and systems.
    • Perform detailed circuit design, simulation, and analysis using tools such as SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar.
    • Oversee the layout and layout review processes to ensure optimal PCB layout for power electronic systems.
    • Lead the development of prototypes and work closely with the testing and validation teams to ensure the performance, safety, and reliability of power electronic systems.
    • Participate in root cause analysis and troubleshooting of power electronics-related issues and provide innovative solutions.
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in power electronic components and systems.

    Experience, skills and qualifications required:

    • Bachelor's/Master's/Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
    • Proven track record of designing and delivering power electronic systems for electric vehicle drivelines or related applications.
    • Extensive experience in designing high-power, high-voltage inverters, converters, and other power electronic components.
    • Proficiency in simulation and analysis tools such as SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, etc.
    • Strong understanding of wide-bandgap semiconductor technologies (SiC, GaN) and their applications in power electronics.
    • Knowledge of thermal management techniques for power electronic systems.
    • Familiarity with automotive safety standards (ISO and functional safety concepts.
    • Hands-on experience with PCB layout and design tools.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
    • Strong leadership and communication skills.
    • Prior experience in leading a team of engineers is a plus.
