- Provide environmental modelling expertise to help assess the impacts of chemicals on the environment across a multitude of areas including agrochemicals, pesticides and occasionally also biocides and general chemicals.
- Conduct regulatory environmental risk assessments of agrochemicals, utilising relevant guidance documents and a variety of computational / mathematical modelling tools (e.g. FOCUS models, EUSES etc.) in order to determine (and where appropriate refine), estimates of environmental exposure.
- Prepare assessment reports and dossiers for regulatory authorities.
- Undertake data analyses and interpretations, and literature reviews.
- Liaise and negotiate with commercial clients and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure all standards are met and preparations, submissions and follow ups are carried out in a timely manner, to meet regulatory deadlines when applicable.
- A PhD (or equivalent experience) in a numerate scientific discipline e.g., chemistry, maths, biology (or similar) and a second degree in an environmental discipline or similar.
- Experience of computer simulation modelling and/or experience in environmental fate and behaviour and/or ecotoxicology of chemicals, preferably in a regulatory context.
- A good understanding of risk assessment approaches.
- Understanding of the data requirements for the models along with the ability to interpret data.
