    Description

    The Hartford seeks an individual to underwrite and develop a profitable liability book working as part of a M&E liability team and wider Marine & Energy Division, whilst offering an outstanding service to our clients and key stakeholders.

    Job Responsibilities & Competence

    1. Use authority granted in Underwriting Authority Statement to execute on the International M&E Liability business plan and assist in producing future business plans.
    2. Develop and research business opportunities both through London Market brokers and Hartford International Offices.
    3. Use technical expertise to enhance profitability of renewals and add profitable new business opportunities to the book.
    4. Keep abreast of development of claims within the Liability book and to liaise with the claims team as necessary to ensure appropriate settlement of these claims.
    5. Purchase facultative reinsurance as necessary to protect the Liability account, but always within Hartford guidelines and authorities.
    6. Ensure compliance with Hartford best practice and policies and also Lloyd's regulations at all times.
    7. Act in the capacity of a PRA/FCA Approved Person with responsibility for controlled functions and as such complying at all times with the PRA/FCA Statements of Principle for Approved Persons.
    8. Help further develop and maintain technical pricing models.
    9. Help report to management, on a monthly basis, of developments in the International M&E Liability account towards business plan and budget.
    10. Contribute, as required, to the quarterly and annual reporting of underwriting results.
    11. Participate as required in various committees, including underwriting, delegated underwriting, operations and risk & compliance.
    12. Assume responsibilities of Head of M&E Liability as and when required.
    13. Help to mentor and educate other team members as required.

    3. Ability to prioritise and organise workload.

    5. Team player with ability to work on a stand-alone basis.
    6. Flexible.
    7. Good communication skills.
    8. Experience of identifying and implementing better processes.
