    Domestic Assistants support the Trustto provide a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our patients, staff and visitors.

    Working to the National Standards ofCleanliness and Trust policy and procedures this role will involve generalcleaning in both clinical and non-clinical areas.

    Main duties of the job

    The Domestic Assistant is responsible for general cleaning duties in all areas including clinical sanitary areas and administration areas in accordance with cleaning procedures and standards that are specified in Trust and department manuals. An outline of duties will include daily cleaning of floors, damp dusting, cleaning of toilets, bathrooms, ward kitchens and kitchen equipment. Domestic Assistants will also assist with serving beverages. Duties will also include the changing of cubicle curtains and disposal and segregation of refuse

    **Please note that this role is not on the Home Office list of occupations eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.**

    Job responsibilities

    2. Key Responsibilities

  • Mopping, scrubbing, buffing of floors,shampooing of carpets.
  • Vacuuming
  • Damp dusting fixtures and fittings.
  • Cleaning of sanitary areas (toilets andbathrooms).
  • Cleaning of ward kitchens and kitchen equipment.
  • Assist with the service of meals to patients, serving beverages and the collecting in of dirty crockery after meals.
  • Washing up of jugs, vases etc.
  • Disposal and segregation of refuse.
  • Removal of dirty linen to disposal room.
  • Changing of bed/cubicle curtains in accordancewith Health and Safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Bed making in residences.
  • Cleaning of rooms/bed areas following anoutbreak of infection.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Good standard of education in English and Maths.
  • Desirable

  • NVQ 1 or 2 in support services/infection control.
  • Knowledge and Awareness
