The Everest International Insurance Finance & Actuarial team provides high-profile services across Europe serving key stakeholders across Everest international Insurance and the wider Everest group.

The Finance function is expanding to build stable a stable foundation significant growth of the business.

As part of the expansion, the accounting and operational processes relating to the ceded reinsurance activities of Everest International Insurance, which is currently centralised, will transfer to the international finance team.

This role supports Head of Finance Integration-International and the Divisional Head of Ceded Reinsurance Accounting, in ensuring a consistent reinsurance operating model across the international (Europe, Asia and Pacific).

The role also supports the International CFO through the provision of management information to guide the reinsurance strategy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the international implementation of the Everest Insurance Ceded Reinsurance system (Europe, Lloyd's, Singapore) ensuring proper adaption to local requirements
  • Build the operational reinsurance accounting team across international
  • Liaise with Divisional Head of Ceded Reinsurance to drive improvements to Ceded Reinsurance accounting system and processes
  • Design, implement and maintain a consistent control framework, which is compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley, covering both reinsurance placement and accounting
  • Design and implement closing calendar and controls relating to the ceded reinsurance operations which meet International and Divisional quarterly closing calendar deadlines.
  • Deliver timely quarterly financial reporting, analysis and reconciliation of ceded reinsurance related accounts in support of the Everest Group's consolidated US GAAP financial statements and local accounting and regulatory standards
  • Deliver management reporting, as defined with International CFO to guide reinsurance strategy
  • Ensure timely preparation of ceded accounts, bordereaux and recording of related ceded payable and recoverable amounts
  • Implement processes and controls to ensure timely collection and payment of ceded reinsurance balances
  • Liaise closely with the underwriting, claims, and actuarial departments to ensure the proper interpretation and recognition of complex reinsurance agreements
  • Deliver requested data to actuarial teams to meet reserving requirements
  • Setup treaty (Quota Share, Excess of Loss, Automatic Facultative, aggregates, retentions, inuring coverages, exclusions, adjustable features, etc.) and facultative reinsurance contracts in the ceded reinsurance accounting system
  • Maintain positive relationships with and appropriately represent the Company to all reinsurance partners
  • Assist in additional projects as assigned

Skills and experience:

  • Significant and proven finance/accounting experience
  • BSC degree in accounting, finance or business preferred
  • Relevant experience in the Accounting Department of a property and casualty insurance or reinsurance company is strongly preferred
  • Understanding of functions pertaining to ceded reinsurance accounting
  • Knowledge/experience with Global XL Pro system is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of SQL is preferred
  • Excellent PC skills; must be proficient in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables & VLOOKUPS)
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and technical skills
  • Strong Interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage time and be able to multitask in an everchanging environment
