AWE is currently recruiting for a Senior Pulsed Power Engineer (C1) The Engineering Trials & Test Group are looking for a Senior Electrical/Electronic Engineer to work with a mixed discipline electrical & electronic team within the Orion laser facility. Closing date - 24th April 2024 For further information regarding this vacancy, please contact Dean Allnutt This is a Technical Leadership and enabling role, to support the team and team leader, driving technical direction, projects & process improvements to maintain and operate the laser's main Pulsed Power System. The candidate will be a great team player & subject matter expert, will ideally have knowledge and experience of pulsed power systems, have experience of leading and managing change, and be required to carry out safety related roles including but not limited to, Work Supervisory Officer; Competent, Nominated, Authorised or Senior Authorised Person Electrical; Asset Change Manager, Risk Assessor; Manual Handling Assessor. Whilst full training will be provided, knowledge and experience of Pulsed Power systems is hugely desirable, although this would be a good opportunity for someone with a proven track record of maintenance experience working on complex systems, fault diagnosis and repair of HV, LV, electronic, pneumatic and mechanical components having worked in a similar function or sector; Utilities, Renewables, FMCG, Manufacturing or Facilities, who can support the Team Lead to implement best practice & new ways of working and to help to coach & mentor junior members of the team in technical techniques. Key Accountabilities:
    • Expedite the planning and execution of tasks in order to deliver specific agreed objectives on time; demonstrating control and accountability of cost and quality.
    • Expedite progress of designs through product lifecycle.
    • Understands the hazards and associated risks of any work conducted and, where required, safely use specialised equipment.
    • All - Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security and quality and be a great team player.
    • Additional accountabilities for this job profile may be defined and appointed through the Chief Engineer Management Arrangements, with appointees listed within the Company Design Authorities and Technical Authorities, as held in the company management system.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Produce high quality technical reports and presentations.
    • Identify and support opportunities for cost savings, efficiency and business improvement.
    • Delivery of Conceptual designs, Detail designs, Manufacturing specifications, Operational documentation and Validation evidence for Mechanical engineering solutions in relation to defined requirements.
    • Lead in managing partnerships.
    • Produce high quality scoping documents, plans and estimates for future activities.
    • Aid the development of less experienced engineers through formal and informal, technical mentoring.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
    • Where appropriate, discharge the role of professional mentor.
    • Organise personal training and development under the guidance of a professional mentor.
    • The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs.
    Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates would also benefit from knowledge ofANYof the following:
    • Previous Electrical Safety Appointment LV/HV Authorised Person
    • Knowledge of High Voltage Systems
    • Knowledge of LV systems and BS7671
    • Knowledge of BS EN :2018 Safety of machinery. Electrical equipment of machines General requirements
    • Preparing documentation, writing reports and giving presentations
    • Recording and analyses of test data
    • Planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
    • Verifying compliance with electrical and construction safety regulations (e.g. In service Inspection and Test (PAT), BS7671 18th Edition, City and Guilds
