Due to an internal secondment, we have a vacancy in our Community Stroke Team for a Speech and Language Therapist with experience of working in Stroke Rehabilitation.

The post-holder will work as part of our friendly Stroke team, comprising of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologist and Rehabilitation Assistants, providing community rehab for stroke survivors following discharge from inpatient rehabilitation.

Fixed term - 12 month contract

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for providing patient-centred care in our Community Stroke Team which is based at Airedale General Hospital.

The Community Stroke Team, within Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, provide stroke rehab' as part of the Integrated Stroke Pathway. The team work collaboratively with the inpatient stroke therapy team and their partners in Bradford.

We are a national centre for telemedicine and introduced telehealth to the UK offender healthcare sector and also provide the service to patients in their care homes.

Degree or equivalent pre-registration award in Speech and Language Therapy.
State registrations with the Health Care Professions Council.
Recent post graduate courses relevant to Adult Speech and Language Therapy.
Completion of post-graduate Dysphagia training course including completion of relevant competencies
Relevant and recent experience working at band 5 level.
Relevant and recent experience working in Adult Speech and Language Therapy.

Experience of multidisciplinary team working and working collaboratively with other professions and agencies including statutory, private and voluntary sector services.

Experience of guideline development, implementation and audit.
Recent experience of student training

Experience of working at band 6 level
Experience of taking part in or leading on Projects / service improvements.
Experience of taking part in or leading an audit or research project

Knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to support advanced clinical practice in Adult Speech and Language Therapy.
Knowledge of the principles of student-centred learning and reflective practice
Knowledge to promote and support equality and value diversity
Knowledge of relevant national and local legislation relevant to Adult Speech and Language Therapy
Specialist knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to support expert Clinical practice in Adult Speech and Language Therapy.

Excellent time management, planning and organisational skills.
Excellent communication and counselling skills, including observation, listening and empathy.
Excellent presentation skills, both written and verbal and ability to adjust style and content as appropriate
