    Kronospan is actively seeking a Chief Engineer to take overall responsibility of all engineering functions on site at Chirk, Wrexham.

    Main duties and responsibilities


    To lead the Site Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance teams, providing reactive & proactive support to a varied range of production operations, to ensure: A high level of availability & output from all processes on site
    Responsibility of Environment, Health and Safety duties for the maintenance department
    Improved equipment reliability & optimisation
    Effective cost control, responsibility for site maintenance budget
    Compliance with the site operating permit, and other statutory (legal) requirements
    COMAH knowledge and operational exposure
    Effective contractor control
    High standards of engineering
    Technical expertise is provided for all maintenance activities
    Efficient utilisation of available manpower through effective delegation of tasks, projects and specific responsibilities to Departmental Engineers. Follow up and audit to monitor achievement.
    Ensure shutdown programs are prepared, well planned and executed as per schedule
    Continuous improvement programme is managed

    Requirements


    Technical qualifications in an appropriate engineering discipline
    At least 5 years proven experience in engineering management
    Ideally a wide range of knowledge of engineering principles, as well as chemical process experience
    Prior experience of a continuous press process or wood panel board manufacturing would be advantageous
    Ability to investigate, understand and resolve technical issues quickly & efficiently
    Man Management abilities
    Planning & organisation skills
    Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards & a high level of performance
