    Job summary

    As a registered, accountable and autonomous nurse to act in the best interests of your patients at all times and take personal responsibility for your actions and decisions. To be responsible for patient assessment, planning of care, implementing and supervising safe and compassionate care, and evaluating the effectiveness of care. As an NMC registrant facilitate learning and development of others. You will demonstrate leadership qualities and be open, transparent and trustworthy. As a Trust employee act with integrity and uphold the values and beliefs of the Trust and the NMC Code of Conduct.

    Main duties of the job

    To provide a high standard of individualised care to sick and premature infants and their family/carers and to partake in assessing, developing, implementing and evaluating programmes of care. To supervise junior staff and students as requested. To assist in the management and organisation of the nursing service in the clinical area including the teaching and management of more junior staff or those in training.

    Paediatric Day Surgery

    Are you a band 5 paediatric nurse with an interest in day surgery? The Royal Surrey are looking for you

    A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 paediatric nurse in our dedicated day surgery unit (DSU). The paediatric DSU is a 6 bedded unit within DSU which runs regular paediatric theatre lists in many specialities including ENT, Maxillofacial, general surgery and ophthalmology.

    This part time role is open to paediatric registered nurses and will be supported by an experienced member of staff, with further support from the rest of the DSU team.

    If you are a newly qualified nurse, the trust offers a robust 12 month preceptorship programme with opportunities to attend study sessions on a range of topics. If you are an experienced nurse, there are a range of opportunities to support you with your ongoing CPD both on and off site.

    As the need arises, there will be an occasional expectation that the successful applicant may be asked to work on our acute paediatric inpatient unit, Hascombe Ward.
