Role Summary


As a buyer at Parker Meggitt, you'll effectively manage large, complex supplier procurement activities and cross-functional relationships, ensuring best practice purchasing techniques are applied at all times in line with Parker Meggitt processes and policies.


You will raise orders and other demand signals accurately and on time to ensure all goods and services are supplied in accordance with customer and company requirements and you'll review performance data related to purchasing effectiveness and efficiency.


Core Responsibilities

  • Managing relationships with designated suppliers of goods and services to ensure quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness targets are being achieved
  • Conducting requests for quotation, evaluation, negotiations, and sourcing activities
  • Driving annual cost down and minimize supplier cost increases
  • Accountability for commodity Purchase Cost Variance (PCV) performance
  • Ensuring compliance with government laws and regulations and company policies and processes
  • Managing MRP (SAP) system and supply chain performance parameters such as supplier contact information, lead times, minimum order quantities, delivery frequency and schedules

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential

  • A deep understanding of MRP systems (preferably SAP)
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise duties with mínimal supervision, in order to meet deadlines
  • Wellorganised, detailoriented, and ability to multitask
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Track record of building and maintaining relationships
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and webbrowsers

Desirable

  • Ability to visualise and plan objectives and goals strategically
  • Decision making skills
  • Presentation skills
  • Ability to research and analyse data effectively
  • Ability to gather data, to compile information and prepare reports
