    We have a fantastic opportunity in the North East and Yorkshire Genomic Medicine Service for the right person tobring the people voice to the senior team. Focusing initially on our threelaboratories you will build and deliver a people strategy that will underpinour ambition to operate regionwide as a single virtual team, delivering a highquality, equitable and efficient service for our patients.     Main duties of the job

    We are now looking for an exceptional individual withexperience in a senior HR leadership role to scope, develop and drive deliveryof our people strategy. As part of this you will support colleagues to developan internal communications plan. You will also have an eye for the immediate highpriority, people issues working with operational and HR colleagues to resolve.

    Your role will play a crucial part in cultivating asustainable workplace culture, driving organisational performance, developing ahigh performing team and ensuring the well-being of our colleagues.

    The role is initially offered as a 12-month secondment. Thekey things we are looking for are:

    Experience partnering with external suppliers aswell as other functions such as Internal Communications.

    Project and change management experience leadingsignificant programmes of work.

    The ability to analyse insights from employeeengagement surveys and other data sources to drive culture forwards andidentify areas that need development and/or improvement.

    The North East and Yorkshire NHS Genomic Medicine Service(GMS) brings together regional Clinical Partners, the Genomic Laboratory Hub(GLH) and the Genomic Medicine Service Alliance (GMSA) all working togetherto improve health and equity of access to genomic tests and treatments forpatients in the region.

    The GMS is made up of four Partner Trusts: The Newcastleupon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHSTrust, Sheffield Childrens NHS Foundation Trust, and Sheffield TeachingHospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Executive Directors from each trust form ourGMS Partnership Board chaired by Professor Phil Wood CEO of the Leeds trust. Theservices are commissioned directly by NHS England's Genomics Unit and their SROfor Genomics, Professor Dame Sue Hill DBE, Chief Scientific Officer forEngland.

    Job responsibilities

    To work as a business partner tothe North East and Yorkshire Genomic Medicine Service (GMS). To provide HR and OD expert advice, the postholder will be required to take the lead on HR, OD and Training and Developmentissues for their allocated areas, advising and recommending actions to Heads ofDepartment, the GMS Executive team and Partnership Board thereby ensuringcompliance with employment law and governance requirements. To build and deliver a people strategy thatwill underpin our ambition to operate regionwide as a single virtual team,delivering a high quality, equitable and efficient service for our patients including very complex workforce planning andemployee relations issues. To take a lead role on initiatives, within the GMS,relating to workforce modernisation, staff engagement, health and wellbeing,workforce efficiency & productivity through effective people management. Toidentify and address development needs in relation to people management skills,capacity and capability. Working withpartner Trust line managers and HR leads on effective appraisal and personaldevelopment implementation with CSUs.

    Thepostholder is required to maintain knowledge on leading practice on workforcetransformation. This will require a deep understanding of GMS challenges andopportunities to jointly develop strategies and delivery plans to achieveworkforce transformation aligned to identified People Priorities. The postholderholds full accountability for the implementation of effective HR and ODapproaches across their GMS, and for the quality of advice given on HR and ODissues to the GMS management teams.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Masters degree in HR and / or OD -related specialism or equivalent knowledge gained through experience
  • Experience

  • Proven track record of achievement in HR and OD management within a complex organisation and/or system.
  • Experience of embedding innovative Workforce Transformation in a complex organisation
  • Demonstrable experience of collaborative working across team and organisational boundaries.
  • Experience of highly complex change management projects
  • Desirable

  • Previous experience as an HR business partner
