The role holder will raise the profile of protection within the wider business to ensure that SJP clients receive the required advice either from a Partner or a referral to the Protection Planning team.

This individual will lead/oversee the strategic development, implementation and delivery of protection products and play a pivotal role in shaping the protection proposition strategy.

They will drive end to end delivery of protection initiatives and manage the Partner Engagement Programme ensuring adoption of the Programme within the Partnership.


What you'll be doing:


  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for protection products.
  • Lead crossfunctional teams in the development and delivery of protection propositions.
  • Collaborate with underwriting, marketing, sales, and other departments to ensure seamless execution.
  • Promote the Orphan Client Management Services offered by the Protection Planning Team to Providers.
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and stay abreast of industry trends.
  • Manage the financial performance of protection propositions and optimise for growth.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in protection product delivery.
  • Take an active part in the risk and governance process for protection providers.
  • Be a spokesperson for the business in respect of protection within the industry, press and entity bodies.

Who we're looking for:


  • Proven leadership experience in the insurance industry with a focus on protection products.
  • Certificate in Financial planning or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of product development, market dynamics, and customer needs.
  • Good technical understanding of protection products life, critical illness and income protection.
  • Experience in developing and implementing propositional strategies aligned with business requirements across the protection market, including knowledge of the regulatory and legislative rules governing protection products.
  • Commercial awareness of competitive businesses and an understanding of the role and responsibilities of SJP senior leaders and Partnership.
  • Excellent communication, team management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Identify where efficiencies can be made through automation.
