    Systems Qualification Engineer

    Duration: 12 Month Contract

    Location: Cheltenham - Onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remote

    Hours: 37 hrs per week

    Rate: Up to £75/hour - Inside IR35 - Umbrella

    Key Activities:

    • Experienced in systems design lifecycle and will work effectively with all functional groups in system engineering to accomplish full product qualification performance and cost/schedule targets.
    • Understand customer requirements at an aircraft level and decompose them effectively to determine appropriate qualification strategy for the power system and the product development of the system
    • Author qualification test plans and test procedures; work with Test Engineering (TE) and Qualification Teams to define the test hardware requirements (TRD) and test environment
    • Support Lean continuous process improvement activities such as PSR (problem solving report), Kaizen, 5S, etc. to rapidly resolve issues and continuously improve existing processes and strategies
    • Demonstrate proficiency with verbal and written English for technical reports, presentations, and analyses to both internal and external customers
    • Communicate effectively and proactively on progress and demonstrate ability to plan, estimate, prioritise and manage activities to meet the project schedule
    • Participate in certification compliance activities and design reviews

    Qualifications / Requirements:

    • Previous experience in team-based projects providing direction and coaching to less experienced staff.
    • An appropriate degree or HND in Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Physics or similar subject, or equivalent experience shows a logical mindset, alongside good problem solving and solution building skills.
    • Previous experience in an aviation, automotive or similar embedded systems development environment demonstrates understanding of working to rigorous industry mandated development standards; for example, ARP4754A and DO160G.
    • Strong organisation and communication skills
    • Knowledge of different verification strategies and test equipment will aid in creating, updating and performing systems tests - be it script-based automated tests, or writing procedures for manual actions. Knowledge of test infrastructure and design of testing facilities is key to success in this role.
    • The ability to leverage your experience to contribute to the modification of the power distribution systems architecture (in collaboration with other technical leads and the customer's based on feedback received from testing.
