Senior Town Planner

North West

My client is an award-winning independent planning and environmental consultancy, operating in key development sectors throughout the UK.

They are looking for an established Chartered/Senior Town Planner to join their dynamic team in either their Wilmslowor Chester office.


The current team specialises in providing multidisciplinary support on major infrastructure development projects and strategic planning studies across the UK.

The teams skills embrace the core disciplines associated with development planning, environmentalimpact assessment, landscape, urban design, and transportation.

Some of the duties of the role include:

  • Advising on a range of consenting regimes
  • Development Consent Orders for NSIPs, Marine Consents and the Electricity Act.
  • Coordinating Environmental Impact Assessments.
  • Planning strategies and programmes including stakeholder engagement and consultation.
  • Advice on Planning policy, legislation, and guidance.
  • Review of development plans including making representations and appearing at Plan Inquiries.
  • Expert witness services at Section 77 and 78 Inquiries/Appeals.
  • Strategic site searches and identifying potential sites for development.
  • Advice on special designations, such as Listed Buildings, Conservation Areas, SSSI's, SPAs, SACs, AONB & National Parks.
  • MRTPI Chartered Town Planner or working towards.
  • Previous experience in a Town Planning role, ideally with both public and private experience.
  • Transferrable skills.
  • Ability to manage workloads and responsibility.
  • Strong and coherent written and verbal communication skills.
