Bioinformatician (Cancer Sciences) - Manchester, United Kingdom - The University of Manchester
Description
The University of Manchester is seeking a talented bioinformatician to lead the analysis of Whole Genome Sequencing data from oesophageal cancer patients undergoing care in hospitals in Nairobi.
The great majority of previous cancer sequencing studies have focused on patients of European ancestry, predominantly resident in Europe or North America.
In this research project you will analyse data from patients of African ancestry, resident in Kenya, and will compare these genomes with those of oesophageal squamous cell cancers from other countries.
The aim of the project is to disentangle the genetic and environmental factors that lead to differential outcomes for cancer patients of differing ethnicities and subject to different environmental exposures.
