    Specialist Speech and language therapist SEMH - two posts available.

    Due to the continued expansion of our Speech and Language Therapy service, we now have an additional two full-time posts, equivalent to NHS BAND 6 based in our specialist SEMH schools.

    We would also be happy to consider band 5 therapists who can demonstrate that they are ready to consolidate and develop their clinical skills in this specialist area to take the next steps to move up to the role of a Specialist S< within our vibrant and expanding team.

    You will be able to work collaboratively with other professionals as part of a friendly and dynamic multi-disciplinary team to deliver a high quality, bespoke Speech and Language Therapy.

    You will be able to add to the speech and language therapy team's offers of schools' offers of child and young person centred, evidence-based approaches, where the speech and language therapy teamwork in schools to support individual academic and social inclusion.

    You will have knowledge of, (or with support be able to develop), evidence based 'best practice' approaches to support children and young people who experience Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) as part of their wider SEMH challenges, at an individual, group and whole school level.

    You will be able to take a child centred approach working directly with a range of stakeholders including the children and young people themselves, parents/carers, teachers, school staff, managers, and other agencies as well as colleagues in the wider Language and Learning Support Team.

    If you already have or wish to develop your knowledge and clinical skills in relation to the wide range of Speech, Language and Communication needs that can be experienced by children and young presenting with SEMH needs, if you are highly motivated, can think creatively and enjoy collaborative working then you are the person we are looking for.

    The Speech & Language Therapy Service is part of Merton Language and Learning Support Team. This relatively young, small but effective, friendly, and supportive team is professionally clinically led by Speech and Language Therapists Team Leaders and Clinical Leads. The team has strong student training links with teaching universities in London.

    We deliver the statutory service to children and young people attending mainstream and special schools in Merton and are also developing refining our universal and targeted offer to schools. We are keen to continue to develop the service in line with EBP and offer our therapists high levels of CPD opportunities, professional autonomy, and the ability to work flexibly within our service delivery framework.
