  • Permanent The Building Consultancy Group provides Building Surveying, Lease Exit, Project Management and Project Monitoring Services to commercial property occupiers, developers and investors throughout the UK from our offices in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow. The Group enjoys strong and productive relationships with a first rate client base and with many other parts of the business, including our Agency, Investment, Valuation and Asset Management teams. Although we work in the traditional commercial arena, we also have particularly strong relationships with clients in the education and serviced living sectors, with charities and religious institutions and with the London Estates. The Birmingham Building Surveying team comprises 1 Partner, 2 Senior Associates, 1 Associate and 1 Assistant Surveyor. It has been identified as an area for strategic growth, and we are now looking for an Assistant Surveyor or newly qualified Surveyor to join the growing team.

We require a good bachelor's or master's degree (within building surveying), excellent communication and technology skills, an eye for detail and the desire to develop your career in a first-class professional partnership.

Experience in a similar role or work experience is highly beneficial.

  • Both leading and assisting on surveys alongside members of the team and department
  • Ability to manage multiple instructions and assignments in a proactive and diligent manner
  • Have a good knowledge and implementation of the full suite of Building Surveying services, including: Dilapidations,
Acquisition Surveys, Contract Administration, Party Wall, specification writing, condition schedules, reinstatement cost assessments, building pathology and defect advice

  • An understanding of JCT Building Contracts, and experience in contract administration of projects from inception to
completion

  • Knowledge and use of CAD where possible
  • Assists in the supporting of junior members in the team
  • Possess good written and verbal communication, time and organisational management
  • Supporting senior members in the team and department
  • As experience is gained, building of client relationships and developing new client contacts
