Within Central Bedfordshire there is significant growth and development, with plans for an additional 20,0000 homes and investments in major assets such as leisure centres, independent living schemes and health care hubs. These inevitably result in an increased demand on the road network.
The Highways service is responsible for keeping Central Bedfordshire's roads and pavements safe. It looks after 1,400 kilometres (869 miles) of roads and manages highways assets through a £250m Term Service Contract. A recent remodelling of the service has identified a need to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Head of Highway Maintenance to oversee all highway assets.
As Head of Highway Maintenance, you will be responsible for highway asset management, routine and reactive maintenance, highways structural maintenance, development of the annual plan; revenue and capital, maintenance of highway structures, street lighting and much more.
