Fitzwilliam has around 1,000 members including 485 Undergraduates, 340 Postgraduates (full time), 121 Postgraduate

major academic disciplines and a good balance between arts and sciences and occupies a seven-acre site between
Huntingdon Road and Storey's Way. The site comprises new buildings built between the 1960s and 2000s, incorporating
the regency house 'The Grove' and extensive landscaped gardens. The College site is within 10 minutes cycle ride of all
the major faculties and departments.

Salary:
£27,000

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, averaging over an 8-week rotation of 4 nights of 9pm-7:45am on/4 nights off

Tenure:
This post is offered on a Permanent basis

Holidays: 25 days annual leave, plus Bank Holidays (pro rata for part-time working)

Job Summary:
The principal role of the Porters within the College is to perform an excellent "front-of-house"
service to all our Members, particularly our Students. As the main point of contact for all College
Members, Staff and visitors, it is essential that the Porters reflect a very positive impression of the
College and its high standards.

Equally as important are the responsibilities for the security and safety of the College Members and
visitors, and the College site and its property.

Main Duties

Reception:


  • To be the first point of contact for College Members, Staff and visitors, and to receive all callers to the Porters Lodge
- in a friendly and helpful manner.
  • To deal promptly, politely and efficiently with all enquiries from Members of the College and visitors via front of
  • To process incoming and outgoing mail and parcels, ensuring all records are maintained correctly.
  • To Issue conference and guest room keys out of office hours.
  • To ensure that College keys are issued and returned in accordance with specified procedures and all logs of key issues
- and returns are maintained accurately and legibly.
  • To use computer databases and programmes such as KX and Accurate Solutions to provide and monitor information
- on guest, conference and study room bookings.
  • To allocate and ensure the return of any loaned sports equipment.

Welfare/Wellbeing:


  • To liaise with the College Tutorial team and Wellbeing Coordinator on matters relating to the welfare of the student
  • Members of the College, in conjunction with the Head Porter and the Deputy Head Porter.
  • To give guidance, support and direction to students where necessary and ensure that all incidents concerning student
- welfare, wellbeing and discipline are reported to the appropria
