Description
This organisation is responsible for providing efficient and effective regulation of the nuclear industry.

The post sits within the Governance and Compliance Team, as part of the wider Governance Organisational Resilience and Compliance Office (GRCO).


You will be responsible for supporting the Corporate Governance and Compliance Manager in delivering data protection compliance, enabling the organisation to meet its statutory responsibilities in data protection legislation.


Principal responsibilities

These will include:

Data Protection:


  • Providing expert knowledge to the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and articulating a clear plan to provide the systems and processes that enable compliance with data protection legislation.
  • Proactively leading on activities to drive forward compliance with data protection legislation.
  • Supporting the management of Data Protection Policies, procedures and guidance and the Data Protection Action Plan, on behalf of the DPO, proactively following up action points to ensure they are satisfactorily executed.
  • Managing daytoday case management, including responding to Subject Access Requests, Data Protection Impact Assessments and Personal Data Security Breaches.
  • Supporting the DPO to provide assurance to the Chief Executive and Board on data protection compliance.
  • Representing on internal and external data protection forums, where necessary.

Essential Skills:


  • Proven experience of dealing with data protection activities, such as responding to Subject Access Requests, handling Data Protection Impact Assessments and the handling of Personal Data Security Breaches.
  • Excellent proofreading skills with immaculate attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills and experience of working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Experience of developing effective working relationships at all levels.

Other information

  • This role is full time (flexible working may be considered) and will be based in Bootle.
  • The successful applicant must be flexible and willing to work occasional longer days with occasional overnight stays to meet business need.

Location / Travel

  • Hybrid working (working in the office and or at home) as part of their flexible working policy. There is an expectation that everyone will spend time in the office on a regular basis, recognising that some work is better done face to face. Managers will work with their teams on what works best to meet individual, team, business and organisational needs to enable collaboration, as well as balancing personal choice and wellbeing.
