    The Health and Safety Teams work has already achieved a strong devolved health and safety approach.

    As the University looks ahead to 2030 and the implementation of its Strategy 2030, there will be a focus on continual improvement on health, safety, and fire.

    This will be achieved through the implementation of our
    Health and Safety Roadmap 2030

    We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced fire safety professional to join a small but very specialist and important team to ensure everyones safety on all three of our campuses and their full range of activities,
    which includes teaching, research, student accommodation, hospitability, sport, events.

    You will use your specialist fire safety knowledge to ensure our buildings, and activities are compliant with fire legislation and Universitys fire safety requirements.

    You will play a vital role in the Health and Safety Team and will focus on the development and implementation of the Universitys Fire Safety Management System and act as the University's appointed competent fire safety person.

    You will be the main contact for all fire safety matters including fire risk assessments, fire risk mitigations, advice, support, training, and audit.

    As part of the Universitys central Health and Safety Team you will work collaboratively and in partnership across all the Universitys academic Colleges and Professional Services, though particular support and focus on the Universitys Estates Team.

    This is an exciting opportunity and will suit a well-rounded, highly motivated fire safety professional who is able to engage and influence at all levels and has a pragmatic customer-focused approach to fire safety.

    You will have substantial experience and a comprehensive knowledge of fire safety, having worked within large, complex organisations with a broad range of fire safety risks.

    Ideally, you will have an IQ Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety or other equivalent level 4 fire safety qualification.

    You will meet the competency criteria for fire risk assessors and be at least a graduate member of the IFE or other relevant professional body.

    Your experience should include developing, implementing, and managing risk assessment programmes, supporting, and advising upon fire safety in new building projects, alterations implementing and delivering fire safety training and conducting fire safety audits.

    There is also a very practical element of the role requiring management of the firefighting provision contract and development and delivery of the Universitys fire drill programme
    Excellent IT skills with experience across MS Office is essential especially word and excel.

    The role will require extensive utilisation of these packages for analysing data, monitoring and management of fire risk assessment actions and producing reports to all levels at the University.

    You should have a drive towards helping us to build, develop and continually improve our fire safety culture at UWE Bristol and be able to work with a high level of autonomy.

    This is a full-time, permanent post, working 37 hours per week.
