Role responsibilities


The Driver and Operations trainer is responsible for the provision of learning and development activities for train drivers and associated operations roles.

The learning and development provision require the Driver and Operations Trainer to be involved in, but not limited to:


  • Conducting detailed training needs analysis, design and development of materials and quality assurance activities that ensure the accuracy, validity and effectiveness of all materials produced.
  • Evaluation of all training and development activities carried out within this role to ensure compliance and continuous development of the courses.
  • Deliver professional driver and operations training to meet the training plans
  • Work closely with the Operational Standards team to ensure that driver training is updated and reflects business risks.
  • Maintain current Driver competence and supporting knowledge.
  • Support the TFWRLtd training team in other training activities and associated projects when required.

_Essential requirements to be considered for this role:_

  • 3yrs Train Driver experience (From Licence issue date)
  • ICT Skills and knowledge including MS Office.
  • Holds or willing to work towards NVQ Level 3 in Learning & Development (or equivalent)
  • Holds or willing to work towards an assessor qualification
  • TAQA Level 3 (or equivalent)

_Desirable attributes for the role include _

  • Experience of designing, delivering, evaluating and reviewing learning and development material and coaching experience.
  • Experience of internal and external stakeholder collaboration.

Welsh Language Skills


Transport for Wales Rail Limited supports and promotes the use of the Welsh Language by employees and will encourage them to develop, improve and maintain their Welsh Language skills.
