We are looking for a suitably qualified mammographer to join our friendly and motivated breast imaging team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals as a practice educator.

The post holder will be expected to provide expert clinical practice, training, and education in all aspects of breast imaging.

They will participate and support the practice development and education for the Radiographers, assistant practitioners and support staff.

Who we are looking for

  • We are looking for a highly motivated, compassionate individual. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have experience in training and development.
  • HCPC registration is required for this post.
  • Applicants will be required to hold a BSc Radiography or equivalent and a post graduate certificate in mammography.
  • Applicants must be female, this role has a "genuine occupational qualification" as an exception to the Equality Act 2010

JOB PURPOSE

  • The Practice Educator in Breast Imaging will be expected to provide expert clinical practice, training and education in all aspects of Breast imaging.
  • To participate and support the Practice Development and Education for the radiographers, assistant practitioners and support staff.
  • To work closely with the superintendent radiographer, advanced practitioners and manager to plan, deliver, manage and evaluate training courses.
  • To work within the team on Trust wide practice development and quality improvement projects.
  • To bring into the breast imaging team specialist skills to support the training and practice development activities.
About Us


The breast imaging team includes four Consultant Radiologists, a skill mix of Clinical Imaging Specialists, Advanced Practitioners, Radiographers and Assistant practitioners.

The department is part of the Radiology department and has a close working relationship with the department of surgery.

Our busy breast imaging service delivers high quality breast imaging, whilst providing excellent quality patient care and experience.

The service performs approximately 20,000 screening mammograms per year as part of the NHS breast screening programme together with imaging for the breast symptomatic service.

The directorate is committed to training and development and encourages all aspects of CPD and role extension/advanced practice. The service benefits from having a training lead to co-ordinate all aspects of training.
