    As the Program Controls Manager you will manage a small but experienced Team that offers functional support and guidance to the execution teams at sites, and provide expert advice to Senior Stakeholders. These support areas integrate cost, schedule, risk, change, estimating and project / finance tracking with associated reporting for the global PGMS business. The role facilitates standardised processes and procedures for project controls at sites and the business and where new and unique projects evolve will help shape the control boundaries at stage gates to enable success for the emerging Capex Portfolio. This team will 'own' the global in-flight capital performance dashboard for the business.

    Your responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership for multiple projects as the Program Controls Manager, reporting to the Global Capital Manager.
  • Supervise a small team to deliver business project controls functions locally and advise on global projects as part of the wider Business team and Project Controls manager.
  • Execute project controls processes and improve tool sets to integrate approximately £300-500m across 7 geographic areas into a Performance Management dashboard with KPIs to outline ongoing risks and success.
  • Develop successful execution strategies with internal JM functions and 3rd party firms to achieve project completions on time, within budget, and at required quality levels, considering safety and reliability.
  • Drive continuous improvement by maximizing the effectiveness of current tool sets, workflows, and partnerships across JM.
  • Operate as a peer review for other programs and work as part of a wider community of practice.
  • Supporting project management with cost estimating services, scheduling, best practices solutions
  • Balancing stakeholders at various sites globally to ensure the in-flight performance of the business portfolio is on track to the baselines agreed.
  • Understand value of work completed models (EVM) for projects and apply Forecast overlays to predict the future outcomes of the projects and portfolios.
  • Requirements for the role:

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering and/or Commercial Functions or substantial experience in lieu.
  • Desirable to have a Professional qualification in project management, RICS, etc. (e.g. from APM, Prince2 or PMI) or willingness to complete the course.
  • Significant Experience of project planning, ideally using P6, or other large software platforms that caters for resources, and costs management .
  • Experience in setting up and managing project controls capability for a global business, including processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Significant Experience of Cost Management, reporting and forecasting. Using data sets from multiple sources, Internal, External with the
  • Ability to define business requirements and reporting systems for deployment across the company.
  • Expertise in applying budgeting and cost control techniques within a complex environment.
  • Strong understanding of risks, claim analysis, procurement, benchmarking, and project health monitoring.
  • Skilled in providing expert advice, presenting reports/issues at management meetings, and delivering detailed analysis on Earned Value metrics.
