Data Analyst (Insights) - St Albans - Higher Education - £35,000 - £40,000 per annum


The Data Analyst works in the Insight and CRM team within Marketing and Communications and is responsible for supporting the department and wider university through the production of data-led insight that can inform and impact key marketing decisions.


The postholder will undertake detailed data analysis, using a range of methods and techniques, on a broad range of internal data from multiple sources and in a variety of formats, as well as on external data (including league tables, UCAS, HESA) to informperformance driven activities, the pursuit of the University's Key Performance Indicators and the development of business cases and other activities.


  • Convert large complex data sets, using a range of methods and data transformation tools such as Alteryx, into appropriate formatting for data visualisation.
  • Create and maintain a series of Tableau dashboards for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Undertake bespoke research and analyses in response to requests from the department.
  • Interpreting a wide range of data from varying sources, covering all areas of student recruitment, brand and development and related activity
  • Identify and implement improvements to the way in which data is analysed, crossreferenced, and utilised by the department.
  • Prepare presentations and deliver them to audiences in a way that conveys the 'so what' of any data analysis work undertaken.
  • Bring a proactive and professional approach to working as a member of a team including the sharing of knowledge and expertise and Taking ownership of areas of responsibility.
  • Be willing and able to develop new skills for manipulating, extracting, and reporting business information.
