Job summary:

The Business Skills Trainer role sits in our Business Skills Centre (BSC). This is an exciting time to join the BSC. We have overhauled our learning offer and are looking for experienced trainers to develop and deliver our new curriculum. We want to embrace new learning methodologies to produce engaging learning content for our staff.


The Business Skills Centre (BSC) is one of three training and education centres that sit within the Defence Leadership and Business (DLaB) Group at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom.

The Defence Academy is part of the Ministry of Defence and delivers world class professional defence and security education to students from the MOD, wider government, UK industry and overseas.

DLaB's remit covers leadership, business and spiritual education and training.

The Business Skills Centre provides professional business education that prepares leaders across Defence for the most challenging and key roles.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.


Job description:

The Business Skills Trainer role will be responsible for delivering Business Training and Education (T&E) interventions across a number of business themes


These include:
governance, strategy, commercial, finance, risk, project delivery and working with Parliament.


You do not need to have worked in Defence previously, but experience designing, implementing, and delivering learning interventions is essential.

Neither do you need to have knowledge or experience in any of the business themes, as you will be provided with upskilling opportunities.


This job role can be based at The Defence Academy, Shrivenham or MOD Abbeywood Bristol, although regular travel to Shrivenham or other MOD locations will be essential.

The role is suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace and working from home.

If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.


Person specification:


Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

  • Supporting Course Managers in the design and development of new learning interventions, using a range of delivery methodologies including technology enhanced learning.
  • Delivering training through a 'blended' approach of facetoface and online learning.
  • Monitoring course evaluation data to recommend continuous improvement actions.
  • Providing technical delivery support to virtual training interventions.
  • Undertaking the necessary professional development to ensure that you are able to design and deliver high quality T&E interventions using a range of methodologies.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate

Essential:


  • Experience of developing and delivering high quality learning interventions.
  • Confident presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively to different audiences
  • Proven ability to work in teams and develop positive relationships with a range of people at all levels.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software.
  • The ability to prioritise, work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines.

Desirable:


  • Experience delivering and/or designing online learning material.
  • Experience of virtual delivery via MS Teams (or similar software).
  • Experience in any of the business themes.
