    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen at Withybush General Hospital to develop the 'Front door' secondary care pharmacy service in partnership with the Acute Medical team working in the Emergency Department, Same Day Emergency Care and the Adult Clinical Decision Unit. The Specialist Clinical Pharmacist will be part of an innovative team involved in clinical medicines optimisation through interprofessional review and shared-decision making upon presentation.

    We are committed to developing and training our staff and you will join our innovative approach to admissions providing pharmaceutical care to the Emergency Medicines Service.

    Withybush General Hospital is a busy district general hospital with approximately 240 beds. It provides a range of medical and surgical specialities including coronary care, acute stroke, trauma and orthopaedics, frailty, critical care and the emergency department. The clinical pharmacy service is well established and provides high quality care across all specialities.

    Main duties of the job

    You will be joining a team of experienced Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians and you will be expected to work as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver a patient focused clinical pharmacy service.

    You will be working as a key member of the pharmacy team providing a clinical service to the Emergency Department and Clinical Decisions Unit. The team are an integral part of the MDT in front of house services.

    You will have the opportunity to develop your practice in a wide range of clinical areas in a small and friendly general hospital.

    You will be supported in any ongoing studies including prescribing qualifications.

    You will be expected to undertake the role of responsible pharmacist when working as part of the dispensary team.

    The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

    Qualifications & Knowledge

    Essential

  • Masters degree in pharmacy (4 years) or equivalent experience or qualifications
  • Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Professional knowledge of medicines managements systems and process in an integrated NHS
  • Experience of teaching & supervision of pharmacists, technicians, assistants and students
  • Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience or qualifications
  • Knowledge of specialist area as described in job advert
