Teaching Assistant (part-time, temporary)

Working pattern:

Monday - Wednesday mornings (from 8.50am to 12.20pm), which is 10.5 hours per week, with Friday morning also a possibility.



Starting salary based on 10.5 hours per week, term time only, is £6,150.

Required to start as soon as possible


The College is seeking to appoint a part-time Teaching Assistant, working Monday - Wednesday mornings (from 8.50am to 12.20pm), with Friday morning also a possibility.


This is a temporary contract to provide one-to-one support for a Key Stage 1 pupil, to start as soon as possible.

The Infant and Junior School consists of seven classes from Foundation to J6.

Small class sizes and specialist teachers ensure we offer our children a broad and balanced curriculum, which aims to develop the full potential of each and every pupil.


Spiritual, moral, social, and physical development form an important part of the curriculum and help to prepare pupils for the challenges and experiences of later life.


Key Qualities and Person Specification:


  • TA qualification.
  • Have experience of supporting KS1 pupils within the classroom.
  • Relevant training and experience of working with pupils from 4 to 11 years old.
  • Be a creative, hardworking, lateral thinker.
  • Be proficient and confident with the use of ICT in the classroom.
  • Have excellent personal organisational skills.
  • Be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal / communication skills.
  • Be adaptable, with a good sense of humour and able to take the initiative.
  • Have the ability to enable and promote independent learning.
  • Be a very good team worker, with the capacity to build relationships at all levels across the school.

Outline of Role and Key Responsibilities:

  • Help and contribute to creating and managing a caring, supportive, purposeful and stimulating environment, which is conducive to the child's learning.
  • Identify clear teaching objectives and learning outcomes, with appropriate challenge and high expectations, as agreed with class teacher.
  • Help enable the child to develop and maintain positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Help mark all work appropriately, following the school marking policy, as agreed with class teacher.
  • Help to prepare resources, as directed by the class teacher.
  • Help assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainments of the pupil on a termly basis, as agreed with class teacher.
  • Help to administer tests, acting as reader or scribe where appropriate.
  • Be part of a whole school team, actively involved in the preparation and development of teaching materials and resources, as appropriate.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, briefings, planning meetings and INSET days as appropriate.
  • Share in a range of supervisory duties throughout the day, if relevant to the pupil.
  • Ensure that school policies are reflected in daily practice.
  • Promote strong relationships with parents and carers, communicating with them about all aspects of their child's education academic, social and emotional, where appropriate and under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Attend relevant parent meetings.
  • Help with outings and sporting events, if relevant
  • Comply with school policies and procedures and ensure they are reflected in daily practice.

Salary, Terms and Conditions:

Please note that the salary of £29,120 is the full time, full year salary. The pro-rata salary for 10.5 hours, term time only equates to £6,150.
