Governance Team Leader


Salary:
£37,329.00

Hours: 35 per week

Duration: 12-month fixed-term contract


Job purpose:


The Governance Team Leader will lead the Governance Team to ensure excellent governance arrangements, supporting the business to understand and adhere to regulatory requirements.

The role will be responsible for creating a culture that ensures good governanceruns throughout and delivers compliance with relevant requirements through an effective and proportionate governance framework working closely with the Board and Senior Management Team.


Responsibilities:


  • Undertake the daytoday management of the internal audit programme and prepare reports on the programme for the Executive Team and Audit Committee, including status summaries of actions arising from the audits
  • Keep up to date with the regulatory changes and provide reports on changes that affect the Group to the Executive Team and Board
  • Offer expert advice on policies and procedures for effective compliance
  • Demonstrate a commitment to customer care, safety, privacy, and equality by complying with all relevant policy and procedures, those relating to: Health & Safety, GDPR and Equality & Diversity
  • Promote high standards of corporate governance, ensuring that all parts of the Group operate within their constitutions and governance codes
  • Assist with the recruitment of new board members

Essential experience:

  • Working in a regulated environment and working with boards and committees
  • Able to present information, verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner, with excellent attention to detail
  • Prior experience of servicing the needs of Board Committees or Senior Management

Desirable experience:

  • Developed understanding of Corporate / Governance frameworks
  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Ability to find solutions to complex problems involving different interests and parties
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
