    Job summary

    Working as part of our Bristol based team as a Health Care Assistant youll, be responsible for coordinating patient lists and activities including teaching, administration, stock control and equipment maintenance.

    Being the appointed Care Assistant in this position will see you participating in the assessment of patients visiting the department pre or post operatively, keep comprehensive records in respect of all patients, recording and responding to any patient issue.

    Main duties of the job

    Once trained under supervision, youll be performing wound assessments and dressings on post-operative patients.

    In addition, you will be;

    Performing phlebotomy/swab taking and ECG as part of pre-operative assessment, in addition to various other clinical tasks

    Participate in the implementation of NICE and other guidance in the outpatient department

    Ensuring that all treatments given meet individual patient needs, reflect good practice and are provided by means of appropriate equipment, within the agreed patient care pathways

    Enabling patients to make informed decisions about their treatment and general welfare

    To ensure that the outpatient department premises remain fit for purpose

    Taking responsibility for the reporting of incidents and notify the OPD Manager accordingly

    To fully comply with CQC, CNST and other standards in the Outpatient Department.

    Previous experience of caring for others is essential of this position couped with the exposure of working in a demanding environment.

    Having already achieved your BLS certificate you will be willing to compete your NVQ level 3 if you havent already.

    You will be an effective communicator with a professional phone manner, able to communicate information accurately and take instruction from professional colleagues

    Through your knowledge and experience, you will have the ability to identify risks and make the necessary alerts to the appropriate channels
