DIGITAL INSTALLATION ENGINEER

Swindon (Reading / M4 Corridor)

£26,000 (Plus van, fuel card, laptop and phone)


Grafton Recruitment are looking to recruit a Digital Installation Engineer to join a global technology company, which is focused on digital transformation solutions that provide innovative resolutions for Quick Service Restaurants, Hospitality and RetailVerticals.


As part of their long-term commitment to quality and continued growth, they are looking to recruit an additional Digital Installation Engineer who is able to manage new customer sites, in addition to servicing a range of digital solutions on break/fix jobs.

This will include working on new store sites where they are currently building and you must be able to manage your own time effectively as well as influencing other onsite individuals such as electricians and builders to support you as needed in order to prioritisethe company's products being installed and signed off.


THE ROLE
As a Digital Installation Engineer, you will be required to:

  • Take responsibility for new store installations, both inside and outside (dive-thru and self-service kiosks)
  • Manage new installations on stores currently being built and be capable of liaising with electricians, building managers etc to prioritise tasks
  • Take ownership of field intervention jobs assigned to you from first contact to completion
  • Work within a geographical region but be able to offer cover to ensure the smooth installation of the company's products in other regions as required
  • Understand the need for punctuality and commitment to completing the required tasks
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety requirements in the workplace and onsite
  • Establish a clear channel of formal communications, so that each customer has a clear understanding of the progress of their installation
  • Manage a portfolio of client installations
  • Manage planned and regular maintenance of instore equipment
  • Provide support and training to clients regarding the company's products as necessary
  • Deal with issues as they arise and understand when to escalate
  • Ensure quality standards are being maintained by installers
  • Set the right tone for your customers and continue to shape the clients positive impression of the company through regular engagement and accurate updates
  • Be committed to providing the highest level of customer service whilst managing multiple client requests


Full training will be given on our bespoke technical products and whilst part of this role will involve hardware swaps and repairs, sorting out connectivity issues and triggering software rebuilds etc the main focus will be on the ability to manage new storeinstallations from beginning to end, overcoming whatever technical obstacles may develop.


Initially working as the 2nd man on two man jobs, it is expected that you will soon progress to be the lead for all of your nominated installations at client drive-thru sites and in-store self-service kiosks, primarily but not limited to the Midlands area.


THE CANDIDATE

The ideal Digital Installation Engineer:

Essential Skills

  • Previous experience of QSR / Retail installations and Breakfix visits to national clients
  • Capable of lifting heavy loads
  • Able to use power tools (SDS drills, Grinder)
  • Ability to work at height (inside and outside of retail outlets)
  • Previous experience in the installation and deployment of systems using correct and documented procedures
  • Ability to pull cables
  • Able to work flexible hours, including some longer days as required
  • Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points and no previous driving bans
  • Flexibility to cover a geographical area (Swindon, Reading)
  • Experience of working in a customer facing role, servicing multi clients or stakeholders
  • Strong customer service ethic and excellent organisation skills
  • Experience in coordinating a number of time critical activities alongside daily routine tasks
  • Excellent customer service skills, via both written and verbal communications
  • Calm under pressure and an ability to reprioritise at short notice

Desirable Skills

  • CSCS card ownership
  • Previous experience of working on drivethrus, selfservice kiosks or similar digital solutions
  • Familiar with POS/EPOS systems
  • Previous experience of working in a startup/evolving technology business
  • Ability to work to own initiative
