We are currently working with a London based firm who are looking to add a senior analyst to their team to take a lead role analysing Power markets.

They are looking for someone with a passion for the energy sector and climate change who can produce detailed analysis of key economic and regulatory drivers in coal, power & emissions.

In addition to generating country/regional reports and updating power models you will also be expected to participate in client presentations and work with the engagement partners to market the research.


Responsibilities will include:


  • Analysis and longterm modelling of power markets and modelling economic impacts of EU renewable energy policies & regulation
  • Tracking and evaluating political and regulatory developments, analysis of the impact of key market developments
  • Writing papers on the regulatory and economic environment for renewable energy
  • Analysing the European carbon market fundamentals, producing supply and demand forecasts and writing monthly/Quarterly outlooks
  • Frequent meetings with clients, presenting at seminars and webinars
  • Working closely with the engineering and technology team to productionise tools and environments to increase the responsiveness and impact of the research.
  • Generating indepth research notes based on quantitative and qualitative analysis of key trends impacting the European energy markets backed by fundamentalsbased modelling of power & carbon prices
  • Growing and managing a team of junior analysts.

Required experience:


  • A commercial understanding of power generation assets and the markets in which they operate.
  • A track record (i.e. 510 years) of producing highimpact power sector research in a sellside environment.
  • Numerical degree in computer science, physics, engineering, statistics or economics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced knowledge of Excel.
