    Description

    An exciting opportunity has risen for Band 5 Registered Nurse to join Birch Ward, an Adults Inpatient Eating Disorders Service.


    Wellbeing of colleagues and working collaboratively is essential as we see this as an important aspect to keeping our staff happy at work.


    The team aim is to work in partnership with patients, carers and others utilising the various services and teams we network with to work towards a level of recovery as deemed by the individual.


    Whether you are a student in your last year of studies, a newly qualified professional or looking for a new and exciting opportunity in Adult Eating Disorder services, we are keen to hear from you.


    This post is only open to those candidates who already have their NMC registration in place and have successfully completed the preceptorship programme.

    Newly qualified applicants or those due to qualify will be recruited via our recruitment fairs.

    This rewarding post will offer opportunities for continued professional development and training in a specialised field of mental health nursing.

    You will be required to work alongside our wide multidisciplinary team to deliver a high quality of care and intervention.


    The successful applicant will work with a caseload of patients offering 1:1 nursing sessions alongside collaborative intervention, medication administration and monitoring, nasogastric feeding and nasogastric tube training to work towards.

    Also working closely with occupational therapists, dieticians and psychologists to ensure patient recovery and directions are supported.

    Your will be named nurse for patients, following their agreed goals and delivering the care plans. Networking with their carers/family to discuss and provide them with support and explore further resources if needed.


    Attending multidisciplinary meetings to support a patient's admission on the ward and work in partnership with allied health professionals to deliver care.

    Although this is an autonomous role the post holder will receive full support supervision and team training. As well as an appraisal to support professional development.
    We are a very focused service on ensuring the patient care delivered is paramount.

    We have a vast team of professionals who delivered highly coordinated care and interventions, a high drive for partnership working with families and carers and also a keen developmental focus on staff wellbeing and the increasement of skills and knowledge.

    Current professional registration with Nursing & Midwifery Council RNMH or RNLD (RNSC - CAMHS only ) - RGN (If appropriate - Advert must indicate if the role is open to RGN nurses to apply)
    Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

    Working with people with mental ill health / learning disabilities
    Evidence based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
    Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
    Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
    Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice
    Confident working knowledge of clinical medicines management, including administration of injections
