    We are recruiting a Clinical Psychologist/Psychological Therapist to join our CHESS (Care Home Education and Support Service) in North Cumbria.

    The CHESS team is a multi-disciplinary team that supports individuals who are living in a care home with cognitive impairment/ dementia and associated mental health difficulties or behaviours that challenge.

    The post holder would be responsible for carrying out specialist psychological assessments and evidence-based therapy for individuals referred to the service.

    They would also provide training and expert consultation to care home staff and staff within the CHESS team.

    Supervising others is an essential part of the role, including other qualified psychology staff, trainee clinical psychologists and assistant psychologists and staff from other disciplines.

    The post holder will be joining a supportive older adult psychology team consisting of Clinical Psychologists, a CBT Therapist, Mental Health Well-being Practitioners and Assistant and Trainee Clinical Psychologists.

    Providing expert assessment and therapy to individuals referred into the CHESS service who are residing in a care home.
    Providing clinical supervision to trainees, assistants, other psychology staff and members of the CHESS team from other professions.
    Providing training and expert consultation to care homes and members of the CHESS Team.

    Leading on formulations in the care homes using the Newcastle Model and helping staff implement the intervention plans based on this model.

    The post-holder will be responsible for providing an expert psychology service to individuals residing in a care home in North Cumbria.

    The post holder should have experience of working with older people with cognitive impairment/ dementia and associated mental health difficulties/ behaviours that challenge.

    An essential part of the role will also be providing training to care home staff and staff within the CHESS service and providing expert consultation.

    Demonstrate further specialist training and experience through having received a minimum of 50 hours clinical supervision of working as a psychological therapist over a minimum of 18 months or an alternative agreed by the Psychological Services Professional Lead.

    Specialist skills and competency in at least two evidence based psychological therapies relevant to the pathway.

    Knowledge of the theory and practice of one or more specialist psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups relevant to the community pathway, e.g.

    personality disorder, dual diagnosis, people with additional disabilities.
    Experience of working with older people post qualifying
    Specialist skills and competency in at least two evidence based psychological therapies relevant to the pathway.
    An Honours Degree in Psychology recognised for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, or RMN, or equivalent degree level qualification in mental health and Post-graduate qualifications in psychological assessment and psychological therapy (e.g. Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, Postgraduate diploma in CBT, IAPT High Intensity CBT diploma).

    Substantial post qualification experience of specialist model specific psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of clients across a wide range of care settings.

    Further training in neuropsychology
