    Job summary

    Kingston Hospital Pharmacy are looking for a dynamic and motivated rotational Pharmacy Technician to join us as a Senior Technician to help assist the day to day running of dispensary and pharmacy stores and run an efficient and effective service. You will rotate through both areas on a 6 month basis. You would also be expected to deputise for the purchasing co-ordinator on an ad-hoc basis. This role will suit someone with existing hospital or community pharmacy experience with an interest in pharmacy dispensary and distribution.

    Main duties of the job

    To deputise the Dispensary and Stores Manager to oversee the day to day running of both departments on a rota basis.

    Responsible to lead the teams and implement changes that benefit the Department.

    Undertake training to becoming a Practice Supervisor and to complete Clinical Trials training.

    You will require excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work under pressure, with attention to detail and be able to multi-task and meet deadlines while working in a fast paced environment.

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

    Rotate between departments gaining experience and knowledge in both.

    Supervise the dispensary and make sure all of the work is completed and sent to the wards in a timely manner.

    Supervise the pharmacy stores and oversee the supply of medicines to wards.

    Deputising the dispensary and procurement leads.

    Completing regular stock checks to minimise any discrepancies.

    To provide cover for the purchasing coordinator.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • BTec or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences (or equivalent)
  • Practice Supervisor or will obtain within 18 months of starting in post
  • Accuracy Checking Qualification
  • Desirable

  • A1 NVQ Assessor / Educational Supervisor
  • Experience and Skills

    Essential

  • Recent dispensing experience in a Hospital or community environment
  • Ward top-ups
  • Knowledge of your professional code of conduct and guidance issued by the GPhC
  • Ability to identify and initiate change
  • Desirable

  • Pharmacy purchasing experience
  • Supervising Pharmacy Assistants or Technicians
