    Job summary

    Alma Medical Centre is a GP Practice in central Stockton. We provide primary care services to our patient population.

    Working under the direct supervision of the Advanced Nurse Practitioner and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

    Main duties of the job

    To work closely with the Clinicians, Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Nursing team. Once competencies completed and signed off in each area you will be delivering:

    New patient health checks

    Hypertension monitoring BP

    24 hour BP

    ECG recording

    Chaperoning

    Phlebotomy

    B12

    Seasonal vaccines

    Dressings removal of sutures and clips

    Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses

    Vaccine/cold chain storing monitoring and recording

    Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation

    Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms

    Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations

    Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well being including weight management

    Raising health awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted.

    About us

    We are a friendly supportive GP Practice in Stockton on Tees with over 11,000 patients. We are a training practice with a multidisciplinary team, including 4 GP partners, 3 salaried GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, HCA and Social Prescriber. We have practice and pharmacy administrators and receptionists.

    We have good facilities and are located in a purpose-built facility, with staff parking. We are within walking distance to Stockton shopping centre.

    This post is one of continual development. Your Senior Nurse will work with you through core competencies. You will be expected to complete statutory and mandatory training as well attending clinical courses as required for the post.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Good Standard of General Education, including Maths and English
  • Health and Social Care Qualification, such as Care Certificate or NVQ Level 2 or 3
  • Desire to Develop Skills and Qualifications under Continuous Professional Development
  • Desirable

  • Training in Phlebotomy
  • Experience

    Desirable

  • Experience in a Patient Facing Role
  • Experience of Conducting Physical Health Checks
  • Experience of Working with Patients that need LTC Management, including Diabetes, COPD, Asthma, Hypertension, and CKD
  • Experience in Health Promotion and Wellbeing Advice for Patients with Long Term Conditions, Mental Health, and Learning Disabilities
  • Experience Conducting Health Checks with Primary Care or Secondary Care
  • Experience of Working in General Practice
