The Role
The role of Project Manager will involve being responsible for the set-up, management and delivery initially of projects.

This will include the coordinated organisation, direction and implementation of a number of activities to achieve outcomes and realisebenefits of strategic importance to the MTC.

To be competent in this role, the Project Manager will be operating in high levels of complexity and with significant change and should:

Make sure things get done:
Make clear the actions required to complete activities and ensure that the resources are available and escalate issues that negatively impact on the performance of the projects;

Manage resources:
Set standards and act when these are not met; manage issues promptly; assess work practices and performance to identify areas for improvement; manage resources effectively against the plan and build on best practice of project delivery;

Ensure High Performance:

Set out required standards of performance and objectives for the team over the project period; Provide clear direction on what needs to be done against standards and objectives; Regularly, review and report on project performance andtake action to address issues; Lead continuous improvement in project performance.

Set Requirements for the long-term project performance: Establish standards and performance required at project level and act when these are not met; align programme priorities with other areas; Establish accountabilities and responsibilities required and monitorperformance on the project; Role model performance standards expected on the project; Identify issues impacting on project performance and develop plans to enable improvements.


The Person
Experience as a project manager successfully delivering transformational projects
Qualified to degree level
Project Management competencies that can be used across a wide variety of future research and development programmes
Ideally professionally qualified to APM or equally similar standard
Accountable - Taking responsibility for your actions and be able to tell others what they can expect from you.
Active - Making things happen and excellent at finding solutions.
Collaborative - Sharing your knowledge so that everyone can make better decisions
Direct - Communicating clearly and constructively
Fair and consistent - Open and honest about your decisions
