Transfusion Practitioner

About the Organisation:

National Services Scotland (NSS) is a national NHS Board operating right at the heart of NHSScotland (NHSS) providing support and advice at a strategic and operational level.

NSS supports NHSS to deliver their services more efficiently and effectively and we offer shared services on a national scale using best-in-class systems and standards.

Our priority is always the same - to improve the health and well-being of the people of Scotland.

We do this by working in partnership with colleagues across Health and Social Care to deliver fit for purpose solutions and systems, delivering high quality services that help our stakeholders to free up resources so they can be re-invested into essential services.

The post:

As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale - through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services.

Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.

We are looking for a NMC/HCPC Registered practitioner to join our SNBTS Transfusion Team to promote the safe and appropriate use of blood and blood components through the development of national programmes of education, associated quality improvement and clinical effectiveness initiatives.

You will be the Transfusion Practitioner covering NHS Highland, based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness and will work closely with NHS Highland staff.

You will also work with colleagues and nationally as part of the wider SNBTS transfusion team.

You should be able to work with limited supervision and demonstrate flexibility in delivering the requirements of the post.

You will be required to travel between NHS Highland sites and Higher Education Institutes in order to fully undertake all the duties associated with the post and as such a valid driving licence is desirable.

The post-holder will be responsible for supporting safe transfusion practice and maintaining good communication channels across NHS Highland as well as supporting other areas covered by the SNBTS Transfusion Team north region.

Location:

NHS Highland, based in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness

Benefits:

Our benefits package includes final salary pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.
