    Bechtel is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to join the Process and System engineering department within the Manufacturing and Technology Business Unit (M&T).

    Plans and conducts independent work within M&T to support projects requiring judgment in evaluation, selection, application, and adaption of design on a project.

    Knows applicable industry standards and codes, accepted design practices and quality standards for a global business unit – especially EU criteria.

    Executes process safety engineering major deliverables according to a set engineering design criteria utilizing approved engineering procedures and practices.

    Coordinates engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors and between other groups.

    Manage or conducts Hazard Identification (HAZID) workshops, Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies, and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) assessments, Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessment, Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM) analyses, hazardous area classification, firewater systems, fire and gas detection and consequence analysis/QRA.

    Engages in project HAZID reviews, able to perform some consequence analysis, develop Performance Standards for Safety Critical Systems, maintain a Hazard and Risk Register, review studies performed by third party contractors: Fire & Explosion Analysis, Quantitative Risk Assessment, Facility Siting Study, Emergency System Survivability Analysis, Escalation Risk Assessment, SIMOPS Risk Assessments and other required activity in support of the Safety Report for a Major Hazard Facility.

    Executes engineering deliverables according to a set engineering design criteria utilizing approved engineering procedures, practices, and standards.

    Takes the initiative to coordinate the detailed design development of a system with other engineering disciplines while managing workload and meeting schedule due dates.

    Determines engineering scope and sets up an engineering work plan for the discipline on complex projects for FEED and/or EPC phase.

    Maintains the technical quality of all deliverables issued on the project.

    Identifies issues (problems, value improvement opportunities) and help clarify areas of complexity during all phases of the engineering design work.

    Prior experience in executing Process Safety Engineering works for at least three medium to large ($100 – 500 million) EPC projects.

    Specialist knowledge in one of the above areas and/or significant operational plant experience in Process Safety or Loss Prevention.

    Excellent knowledge of technical theory, engineering principles, good engineering practices and how to apply them for design execution.

    Familiarity with major regulations and industry codes and standards affecting standard design, quality, or processes (US and European safety regulations and requirements especially NFPA, API, IP, and IEC).

    Demonstrated experience in Microsoft office programs and other discipline-specific computer programs.
    Knowledge of Bechtel Engineering Department Procedures.

    Prior experience in planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in one or more of the following market segments: Semiconductor, Electric Vehicle, Battery, or Data Center EPC projects.

    Demonstrated strong frontline leadership skills and emphasis on continuous improvement and team building and an ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
