Mtrec recruitment have partnered with our prestigious e-commerce client; the company who are at the pinnacle of success within their chosen market sector are truly a unique business.

They are seeking to appoint a full time and permanent Marketing Directorto spearhead the company plans for Market exposure and overall company growth.

They are based in the heart of Newcastle and are ideally located near central highways.

The role will be suited to an ambitious and dedicated marketing professional with a keeninterest in the online retail and e-commerce industry.


The Job you will do:


  • Build a Marketing plan and Activity Calendar to support the overall business strategy and company sales targets.
  • Development of a marketing playbook which details out the levers which can be pulled across the full customer journey to drive brand conversions.
  • Consider the context of the marketplace and changes in the sector, particularly in advertising effectiveness and costs.
  • Develop and investigate new ways of communicating to the target customer to include all new relevant channels.
  • Benchmark competitor media spend for marketing and plan a schedule of activity throughout the year.
  • To develop a baseline and target KPI's for all marketing activity and manage the team to deliver results.
  • Own and drive the business sales, ensuring the right mix of launches.
  • Drive meaningful traffic to the website/app through a mix of initiatives and channels.
  • Ensure all owned platforms are technically sound and optimised for maximum performance.
  • Aligning all campaigns across channels for consistency and impact.
  • Manage the trading calendar for the Marketing team, gaining agreement of key campaign timing and Sales promotions.
  • Manage all agency relationships, from selecting, arranging a pitch, reviewing information, negotiating pricing, and preparing contracts for the owner's approval.
  • Increase database subscriptions to ensure a healthy flow of new users signing up
  • Delivery of coordinated brand campaigns to support NPD and seasonal launches.
  • Govern the use of the brand throughout the business to ensure the teams stick to company brand effectively in all outputs.
  • Manage the content production team to ensure we are producing top class content, designed specifically for the right channel.
  • Manage the social media team to ensure there is a full strategy for to drive brand exposure.
  • Working with graphic designer to develop inserts and flyers to be inserted within fulfilment bags, tendering for print, managing creative layout, and measuring results via QR codes.
  • Work with finance to set the Marketing budget each month and relevant channel targets.
  • Monitoring spends both weekly and monthly to be able to report to Finance the current position at any time throughout the month.
  • Manage the trading calendar with the Marketing team, gaining agreement of key campaign timing and promotions.
  • Planning and leading the development of Call to Actions for the Homepage and aligning behind these across all channels ownership of weekly meeting
  • Leading and motivating the Marketing, Ecommerce, and Creative teams, ensuring they are aligned on plans and clear on business objectives.
  • Manage weekly team meetings to ensure everyone aligned behind plans and actions complete for campaign or sale preparation.
  • Conduct 121's weekly (plus a formal 121 monthly meeting with HR) with E-Commerce, Marketing and Creative Managers, to ensure everyone is fully briefed and clear on expectations.
  • Strategically manage agency relationships, from selecting, arranging a pitch, reviewing information, negotiating pricing, and preparing contracts for Managing Director's approval.
  • Ensure all performance targets are tracked and KPI's are met the Agencies are fully briefed on the Activity Plan via the Performance Marketing Manager.
  • Manage the overall Marketing budget for the year, tracking all invoices, monitoring spends both weekly and monthly to be able to report to finance the current position at any time throughout the month.
  • Measure and track the channels from a ROI perspective alongside the Performance Marketing Manager, against set targets to be reported in the trading meeting currently held mid and end of month.

About you:


  • You will have previous senior management experience, or exposure to strategic marketing planning on a large scale.
  • Ideally you will hold a Marketing Degree or a related qualification in a similar field.
  • You will have previous expereince of team management and reporting at a director level.
  • A Passionate Digital Expert
  • You will be one of a growing number of digital champions internally and will be required to help create a digitally engaged culture.
  • Selfmotivated and able to deliver at pace you will be results and outputs driven with a fine eye for commercial detail.
  • Able to collaborate and influence at all levels great communicator and able to support teams cross functionally in helping to upskill them.
  • Strong analytical skills able to evaluate complex data and translate into value adding insights.
