Description

The Childcare Act, section 12, places a duty on local authorities to provide information, advice and assistance to parents and prospective parents.

The Families Information Service provide comprehensive and up to date information about childcare and early education.


The expansion to the number of early years and wraparound childcare places, will require an increase in duties for the Early Years Service.

Including additional data collection and analysis to evaluate and determine supply and demand.

Review and determine gaps in provision across the county to prioritise and support the set up and expansion of sustainable provision.

This post is to support the implementation of the national expansion to the Early Years Entitlements and Wraparound Childcare.


The post is up to 2 year fixed term position working to the generic job and person profile of a Management Information Officer, which will sit in the Digital & Data Service within Childrens Services.

This officer will undertake duties required for both the sufficiency and families information service functions in the team. This includes

  • Responsible for developing the Derbyshire Family Information Service's (FIS) online directory, ensuring it meets the revised statutory requirements but remains aligned with the FIS development plan and embeds as business as usual.
  • Lead and develop Early Years business intelligence and reporting via Power Bi.
  • Maintaining data quality of all records within the system and ensuring termly updates to ensure uptodate information to ensure compliance with strategic and statutory requirements.
  • Lead on the development of new and enhanced Early Years module functionality via upgrades or legislation changes, and the associated training and guidance required.
  • Raising of operational issues with the software supplier ensuring follow through to successful resolution for the Early Years module.
  • Represent DCC for Early Years at Synergy User Group meetings and events.
