    Job summary

    NHS South East London ICB has an opportunity for the right candidate to work as part of the ICBs Complaints and Patient Experience team as the FOI officer and complaints assistant.

    This post holder will act as the ICBs subject matter expert on managing Freedom of Information Act requests received by the ICB, ensuring all requests are acknowledged and responded to appropriately and in line with the timescales specified in the Act. They will be the single point of contact for FOI requests, managing the ICBs FOI email inbox, and ensuring the following tasks are delivered:

  • Receipt and acknowledgement of requests from external enquirers
  • distribution of requests to internal ICB teams for responses
  • co-ordinating and collating responses
  • production of a formal response letter to the enquirer, ready for approval
  • management of the ICBs FOI database, recording all FOI enquiries received and monitoring of response times
  • management reporting on FOI responses and thematic analysis
  • In addition, the post holder will support the patient experience officers to respond to patient enquiries and complaints, as required.

    Main duties of the job

    The FOI Officer and Complaints Assistant is responsible for:o Co-ordinating the management and response of incoming requests for information that fall under the Freedom of Information (FOI) Providing advice to staff regarding the application of Freedom of Information legislation and Information Commissioner's guidance, including complex Co-ordinating information and replies in a manner which takes account of the available exemptions within the FOI Ensuring the ICB remains compliant with legislation and deadlines with respect to FOI requests, in particular the 20-day Providing FOI administrative tasks such as producing correspondence, reports and creating and maintaining Analyse requests and if these are unclear, follow up with the applicant to clarify specific point or words or where further information is Support the production of quarterly activity reports on FOI Monitoring and updating policies in response to changes in FOI law or Develop and maintain a log of FOI requests and responses and provideanalytical information on Provide high quality administrative support collating information as necessary and ensuring that FOI requests are responded to on Liaise with and provide advice to a wide range of external and internalstakeholders, to ensure clear FOI responses can be produced.
