The Northwest Ambulance Service (NWAS) NHS Trust is undergoing change and as part of these changes the Clinical Hub is looking to expand and develop its support function.

We are looking for non-clinical staff to provide a support system within our organisation based at our Emergency Control Centres.


The successful applicant will be responsible for managing inbound telephone calls and ensuring the calls are directed to appropriate services.

Working closely with our team of clinical staff including Paramedics, registered Nurses, Pharmacists and Mental Health Nurses.

The post holder will answer inbound calls from NWAS Operational crews who may request advice from a Senior Clinician based within the Clinical Hub, contact contracted taxi companies to arrange alternative transport for patients or even provide information for NWAS crews regarding contact details for alternative pathways to provide more suitable care for the patient to avoid hospital admissions.

This role is NHS pay scale Band and attracted shifts enhancements as detailed below:
Basic pay £22,383


Shift enhancements:

Weekdays 2000hrs-0600hrs time + 41%

Saturdays all hours time + 41%

Sundays all hours time + 83%


North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.


Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.

We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.


Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
