    Job Description

    This role primarily reports into the Indirect Tax Manager, which is a high-profile role responsible for accounting and financial reporting activity for the EMEA region along with forecasting / budgeting and cash flow. The principal accountabilities of the VAT & Accounting Manager include:

    • the accurate and timely reporting of indirect taxes (primarily) VAT for Tag EMEA entities
    • the identification of inefficiencies and errors, and implementation of improvements to processes and working practices
    • the fielding of queries from the tax authorities
    • tracking recovery of input tax claims
    • supporting a strong control environment.

    Of significance are the overseas transactions, which can be complex, and the implications they have for the overseas VAT registrations. The UK group VAT registration is by far the largest return and complex to reconcile and control.

    Job Qualifications:

    · A qualified accountant with at least 5 years PQE and experience in a large corporate organisation.

    · Good IT skills, especially Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)

    · Experienced user of a large ERP system

    · Experience of a multiple VAT registrations.

    · Innovative and resourceful

    · Tenacity to solve problems and drive improvements in a complex reporting environment

    · Excellent communicator with the ability to influence across a wide network

    Responsibilities

    Managing the relationships with:

    · External service providers for completion of foreign and UK VAT, ESL and Intrastat returns

    · External offshore accounting team in respect of validating process and matters that have a VAT implication

    · global indirect tax lead in respect of the more technical / specialised VAT matters

    · Commercial teams in respect of proposed transactions

    · Preparing and reporting the VAT, ESL and Intrastat returns for all EMEA VAT registrations, using the services of the external service provider.

    · With the support of the external service provider, field all queries from the tax authorities. Such work would include specific queries relating to individual returns and to the collection of VAT receivables. This role would also be central to any VAT audit, with support from the global indirect tax lead, where appropriate.

    · Carrying out / arranging detailed compliance checks to ensure VAT accounting accuracy – checking validity of sales invoices and amending details where appropriate; checking validity of purchase invoices and ensuring that the business is entitled to recover VAT, where appropriate.

    · Reconciliation of all VAT General Ledger Accounts, using the VAT registration worktag.

    · Management of VAT receivables and reporting on the status of collections. Arranging VAT payments, including the management of the ROS and the cfspro websites.

    · With the help and support of the global indirect tax lead, the provision of basic VAT accounting advice to all areas of the business.

    · Registering or deregistering VAT entities, as required.

    · Managing the fees of the external service provider.
