About us:


UCL Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology was established on 1st August 2013 and is formally comprised of two research departments: The MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (MRC CTU) and the Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit at UCL (CCTU), which are UKCRC registered trials units.


The Institute is a centre of excellence for the conduct of all phases of clinical trials, meta-analysis, and epidemiological studies, across a range of diseases.

Key areas of focus for the Institute are continuing to deliver innovations in trial methodology to improve outcomes for patients and training and developing the next generation of trialists.

As one of the UK's leading centres for clinical research national and international clinical trials are conducted alongside, meta-analyses and epidemiological studies in cancer, infectious diseases (particularly HIV and TB), neurology and other health care areas.

The ICTM Finance team look after the Institute's finances. Funding comes from a variety of sources, including major charities, the Medical Research Council, and large pharmaceutical companies. The annual income exceeds £30 million.

The Finance Officer will sit within the ICTM Finance Team comprising of the Finance Manager, two Finance Officers and one HR and Finance Administrator.

You will interact closely with other stakeholders such as Clinical Project Managers, Trial Managers, Statisticians, Project Leads, Data Managers, Data Scientist, Programmers and Trial Assistants.


We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic person to undertake the role for
9 months to cover the secondment of an existing member of staff to support their career development.

About you:


The post holder will be proactive, have experience in financial administration preferably from an HEI background, be efficient, have good attention to detail, be able to prioritise tasks and communicate effectively with stakeholders at various levels across the Institute and University.

A professional attitude, willingness to help and a positive outlook are required. The ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with a wide range people is key.

The successful applicant will also have good data analysis & Microsoft Office skills (including basic Excel such as VLOOKUP/SUM IF/Pivot tables).
