    Job summary

    This is a fixed term position for 12 months from October 2024 for a Senior Clinical Hand Fellow in Hand Surgery to join our very busy and high regarded Unit.

    We are looking for an individual who has either completed their specialist training or a final year trainee with significant interest and experience of modern hand surgery techniques.

    Main duties of the job

    Clinical duties will involve considerable supervised and unsupervised elective and trauma outpatient clinics and operating lists. A wide variety of procedures are performed and the post holder with rotate between Consultants to allow supervision/instruction and to maximise the experience. There is a non resident on call commitment.

    Person Specification

    Qualification and Eligibility

    Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full MRCS/FRCS in either plastic or orthopaedic surgery
  • Full GMC registration and a licence to practice at the time of application
  • Desirable

  • Entry on GMC Specialist Register
  • ATLS
  • Hand Diploma
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Completed specialist training or final year trainee
  • Comprehensive Technical competence in Trauma & Elective Hand Surgery
  • Log Book evidence of Hand Procedures
  • Desirable

  • Previous hand fellowship
  • Clinical knowledge and skills

    Essential

  • Up to date knowledge and experience of modern hand surgery techniques
  • Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need
