    Job summary

    North Manchester CMHT are looking to appoint a substantive consultant to their North West Team. The catchment area for the Team includes the following electoral wards: Higher Blackley, Crumpsall, Cheetham Hill and parts of Harpurhey and Charlestown. The Team provides care for patients registered with GP practices within the catchment area and patients registered outside the catchment area but living within the area.

    Main duties of the job

    This post is one of the 2 full-time substantive consultant posts for the CMHT-NW. Each Consultant is supported by WTE Trainee (CT or GPST). The successful postholder would be expected to provide clinical supervision for the Trainee allocated to the post. The would be supported to apply for a Trainer's status.

    The CMHT-NW has a total caseload of approximately 1300 with 530 CPA, 640 Standard Care and 130 under assessment. Each care co-ordinator in Team has caseload of approximately 30-40 patients.

    All new referrals to the CMHT are initially assessed by the CMHT before medical input is requested to ensure consultant time is reserved for the most complex individuals. Consultant input to triage of referrals to determine patients who would benefit from direction to a medically led assessment. The CMHT Consultants also provide a weekly 2 hour dedicated time (on rota basis by the 4 North CMHT Consultants) to GPs for advice regarding patients who may not meet CMHT threshold for referral.
