    Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Criminology Graduate to join our team. As a Criminology Graduate, you will play a vital role in supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of our students, many of whom have experienced challenges within the traditional education system. You will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to provide tailored support and guidance to help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Mentoring and Support: Provide one-on-one mentoring and support to students, offering guidance and encouragement to help them overcome personal challenges and develop positive attitudes towards learning.
    2. Behavioral Intervention: Implement strategies to address challenging behaviors and promote positive social interactions within the school community. Work proactively to de-escalate conflicts and support students in developing effective conflict resolution skills.
    3. Academic Support: Assist teaching staff in delivering tailored learning activities and interventions designed to meet the individual needs of students. Provide additional academic support and reinforcement to help students progress in their studies and achieve academic success.
    4. Criminology Insights: Draw upon your knowledge of criminology to help students understand the social and psychological factors that contribute to criminal behavior. Facilitate discussions and activities that encourage critical thinking and self-reflection, promoting positive decision-making and responsible citizenship.
    5. Collaborative Working: Collaborate closely with colleagues across the school, including teachers, support staff, and external agencies, to develop and implement holistic support plans for students. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review student progress and identify areas for additional support.
    6. Community Engagement: Build positive relationships with students, families, and external stakeholders, promoting a sense of belonging and community within the PRU. Liaise with external agencies and organizations to access additional support services and resources for students as needed.
    7. Continuing Professional Development: Take advantage of opportunities for professional development and training to enhance your skills and knowledge in areas relevant to supporting students with complex needs and challenging behaviors.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Bachelor's degree in Criminology or a related field.
    • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or youth work setting, particularly those with challenging behaviors or social, emotional, and mental health needs.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
    • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
    • Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies, with a commitment to promoting positive behavior and personal development.
    • A passion for making a positive difference in the lives of young people and a willingness to go above and beyond to support their needs.
    • Flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive attitude towards problem-solving and collaboration.
