    Introduction

    The SE Portfolio Management Office (SEPMO) is a trusted and collaborative partner, leading best practice in the management of the portfolio, supporting project prioritisation and delivery. We provide an integrated approach, manage interdependencies and provide analysis and reporting, working in close harmony with the corporate Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO).

    The team is central to the success of a large portfolio of infrastructure and maintenance projects, directly linked to supporting a thriving parliamentary democracy.

    With so many change initiatives happening within Strategic Estates, the change and engagement team in PMO is there to ensure the views and voices of our customers are considered in project delivery.

    The Role

    Strategic Estates delivers a large portfolio of projects and programmes across the Parliamentary Estate. We need to initialise and plan these, determine dependencies, provide quality assurance and report to customers and stakeholders.

    The SE PMO analysis team are responsible for providing information, assurance and transparency to all our stakeholders on the capital investment portfolio. Major themes within this include the providing portfolio level analysis and independent assurance that we are investing capital in the right initiatives (are we doing the right things) and providing assurance on the performance of those initiatives (are we doing those things right).

    Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

  • System development tasks, including: inputting to requirements; testing of new prototypes; ensuring system development is aligned with good project and programme management practices etc.
  • Oversee the successful production of monthly analysis reports across the breadth of the portfolio covering all capital investment.
  • Regularly analyse project information from a variety of reporting platforms to construct Management Information reports.
  • Skills and Experience

    Qualification:

  • A qualification in at least one of the recognised portfolio/programme/project management methods (e.g. P3O, MoP, MSP, PRINCE2, APM PMQ or PPQ)
  • To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Proven understanding of service delivery in a complex and challenging (project/programme management) environment.
  • Experience of Microsoft Project Professional, SharePoint, Excel and similar management tools.
  • Able to establish authority and credibility quickly with a diverse range of stakeholders, with sensitivity to organisational culture and values.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present and ensure understanding of portfolio and project insights.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop, analyse and provide commentary on project plans and performance.
  • Able to organise your time and plan work to achieve tight deadlines on a regular basis.
  • Able to prioritise work to ensure the most important issues are identified and addressed
